Venue Spotlight- Pylewell Park

In the second of a series of short blog posts, we look at beautiful venues where we are a Recommended Supplier, and give our advice on the types of arrangements that work well in that setting.

Today, we are exploring Pylewell Park, near Lymington (New Forest).

Pylewell Park has the holy grail combination of features for a wedding venue: a stunning stately home, beautiful grounds with views right down to the sea, and a fabulous purpose-built pavilion to hold wedding receptions with seated capacity of 150.

In this late August wedding, florals were integral to the overall look and feel of the wedding.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place under the Sail structure. We created a romantic aisle of flowers for the bride to walk down, with floral pillars at the top of the aisle, to frame the wedding vows. Large floral arrangements outside can be a challenge, with the variable weather conditions of the UK, so the sail cloth and “band stand” structure are ideal to support and shade both your guests and the flowers!

Reception

The great thing about aisle meadows is that they are very portable, so could be reused to add floral decor to aspects of the reception space, for example the table plan and the ends of the banqueting tables:

We used high-impact florals for the dining tables themselves, to generate a very special atmosphere for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Long runner plinths created a canopy of flowers:

It’s also a great idea to use floral structures to frame you, as newlyweds, at your top table. Here, this double-sided moongate created a backdrop to the bride and groom, and later a feature of the dance floor!

We love a floor meadow in front of the top table, to add an extra dimension to the florals: it also hides your feet if you want to stick them out inelegantly whilst eating! This meadow was a fixed installation for the wedding, but we often re-use aisle meadows for this purpose.

The budget for this wedding also allowed us to create some additional high-impact statement installations, including a huge floral meadow along the radiator covers running down one side of the Pavilion:

At Pylewell, you have the option to orientate your top table this way, so that the floor meadows sit behind you, and you have a lovely view out over the grounds.

Finally, to add extra elevation to the floral design, we created foliage trails from the beautiful chandeliers in the Pavilion:

This wedding was a joy to create, in a soft romantic colour palette of pinks, creams and blues.

Congratulations to A & T who, thanks to the pandemic, waited a long time for their beautiful day.
