C & O married in spectacular style at Avington Park, near Winchester, in August 2024. The venue, renowned for its stunning architecture and lush grounds, provided an idyllic backdrop for the couple's special day, blending elegance with the natural beauty of its surroundings.
The couple very wisely planned an indoor ceremony, which turned out to be serendipitous with the 'English Summer' that day. The versatile indoor setting allowed guests to enjoy the beauty of the venue while remaining comfortably sheltered from the unpredictable elements typical of English weather.
The fabulous ballroom setting is filled with colour and detailing, creating an atmosphere of opulence and warmth. The high ceilings adorned with intricate mouldings and the grand chandeliers cast a soft glow over the room, enhancing the romantic ambiance. To complement this exquisite environment, a soft palette of white, predominantly English-grown florals was carefully selected to harmonize with the existing décor, ensuring that the floral arrangements enhanced rather than overshadowed the venue's natural beauty.
Versatile flowers
The focal flowers in the design were fairtrade roses, delphiniums, cosmos, hydrangea, and scabious. The fairtrade roses, with their delicate petals and sweet fragrance are a must have for a classically romantic feel. Delphiniums added a touch of drama, while cosmos and scabious, with their unique shape and texture, added an artistic flair and a playful element to the arrangements.
We created impact for the ceremony using aisle meadows: the bride adored walking up the aisle amongst the flowers. These meadows not only enhanced the visual appeal of the ceremony but also created a sensory experience for the guests, who were enveloped in the delightful scents of the fresh blooms. The meadows, with their wildflower charm, evoked a sense of romance and connection to nature, making the walk down the aisle a truly memorable moment for the bride.
A brilliant feature of meadows is that they can be easily and beautifully reused for the reception. The lush floral arrangements that adorned the ceremony space were thoughtfully transitioned to the reception area, where they were used to create a beautiful sweetheart table. In addition, the meadows were repurposed to form a stunning statement cake table, showcasing the intricately designed wedding cake surrounded by an enchanting floral display. This seamless transition not only maximized the use of the floral arrangements but also created a cohesive aesthetic throughout the day, allowing the couple and their guests to continue enjoying the beauty of the flowers in a new setting.
