Venue Spotlight- Avington Park. White Summer Wedding Flowers at Luxury Winchester Venue

In the first of a series of short blog posts, we look at beautiful venues where we are a Recommended Supplier, and give our advice on the types of arrangements that work well in that setting.

We start with Avington Park, a stunning exclusive-use private estate near Winchester. Where we provided a classically romantic white Summer wedding flowers at this luxury Winchester venue.

Ceremony Spaces

Avington Park has the benefit of two ceremony spaces: an incredible ballroom indoors, and an outdoor setting amongst a rose garden, under the boughs of a huge beech tree.

The Ballroom is lavishly and ornately decorated in ‘plaster peach’ and gold. If marrying inside, we recommend using floral tones that embrace and accentuate this colour palette, e.g. peaches, pinks, creams, soft blues.

Outside, the rose garden is all-white. If marrying across the Summer months when the roses are in bloom, therefore, a simple white colour palette will blend your wedding florals with the existing flowers, or dramatic bright combinations will stand out against the verdant surroundings.

Both the ballroom and the rose garden lend themselves to a large statement floral piece to create focus for the ceremony. The width of the rose garden aisle means large aisle meadows can be accommodated, creating an amazing entry to the ceremony space.

In the ballroom, capacity along the aisle is usually reduced (dependent on number of guests) but smaller aisle meadows look incredible, and these can be continued along the stunning staircase that leads up to the ballroom.

Within the ballroom, decoration of the mantlepiece and ornate sideboard will lend additional floral splendour.

Orangery

Wedding breakfasts are usually hosted within the orangery, which can be open to the elements or enclosed, dependent on weather conditions.

In this wedding, we added height and drama on the tables by using floral plinths, alternated with low footed bowl arrangements. Additional drama and focus was given to the top table by a huge statement meadow arrangement, bringing the outdoor setting into the orangery. The meadow was recreated from the ceremony flowers.

Library

The beautiful library can be used for several stages of the day, e.g. arrival drinks, post-ceremony drinks and evening dancing.

We loved this set up for the cake cutting ceremony, using more of the ceremony meadows to frame the cake, in addition to wired fresh flowers on the cake:

All our arrangements are foam free and use sustainable floristry techniques to avoid any non-compostable waste.

Congratulations to Iqra and Duncan, who trusted us to bring their wedding day to life with our florals.
